We hired this carrier to haul a driver-no-touch load. Our rate confirmation specifically states "NO TRANSLOADING." The shipment was delivered the week of Christmas and, because of the holiday and people taking time off at the customer's offices, we were notified after the holiday week that the freight was is poor condition. The customer sent us photos taken by the shipper and by the receiver. The photos showed two obviously different trailers, and the arrangement and condition of the freight differed between the shipper and receiver. None of the pallets were tacked when they were shipped but the receiver's photos showed stacked pallets, and at least one pallet's shrink wrap was torn, which allowed the wooden product to shift and scatter all over the trailer including between pallets and between pallets and the trailer wall. At least one of the straps was hanging loose, not securing anything.
The shipper used the entire floor space when loading. The receiver's photos showed that the freight took up about half the trailer because the pallets were stacked, causing us to wonder if the carrier picked up another load along the way despite us paying for exclusive use of the entire trailer. This caused damage that our customer is still determining the value of. There will definitely be a cargo insurance claim on this load.
Communication with the driver and dispatcher was difficult. Multiple phone calls and voicemails were required to get any sort of response once the rate confirmation was sent to the carrier. It took a few hours for the carrier to respond to our phone calls, voicemails, and emails after we were notified by our customer about the transloaded condition of the freight. When the dispatcher finally responded, he denied that the freight was transloaded.
