Overview
The primary business of The Scruggs Company is heavy construction and site work. We pursue projects in various sizes including projects billing less than $10,000 up to projects billing over $120,000,000. Depending on the type of project, the geographic location might be anywhere in the Southeastern United States.
On a typical project, we provide all site work services with in-house forces including clearing, grading, storm drainage, water/sanitary, and paving. Normally, we are involved as prime contractors, contracting directly with the owner, but we also work as a subcontractor on some projects.
We own and operate seven asphalt plants, three sand mines, a fleet of about 75 heavy trucks, 50 trailers and tankers, and numerous grading/paving equipment units. Maintenance and repairs are handled in-house; service records and preventative maintenance schedules are electronically tracked for each individual vehicle and equipment unit.
