What went poorly?
Refusal to Release Load
The carrier took a load that was 42ft long for a 48ft Flatbed. While the carrier was at the shipper's almost loaded, they told us the load wouldn't fit; we asked why, and they said they were a 40ft Hotshot. We tell them to offload the load as we need a 48-foot flatbed and will get another truck in to get the load. They talked the shipper into loading their truck anyway, even though we told the carrier to pull off the load. Then, at 4:45 pm, we got an email from the carrier saying they were overweight by 4000lbs. We told them to take the load back to the shippers, but they couldn't offload him until the following morning at 8 am. The next day, at 8 am, we are told the driver is only minutes away heading that way. Then, at 8:30 am, we got a call demanding Layover, TONU, and were told that he was overweight and refusing to return the load to the shippers. We explained that what they were trying to do was to hold us hostage by refusing to take the load back to the shippers. Then the carrier said that unless we could give him what he wanted, he was not going to cooperate. This went on for a good 15-20 minutes, even though we told the carrier we were going to report them to load vetting services for their attitude and activity. After a few minutes, the dispatcher tells the driver to take the load back to the shipper's location ASAP. The carrier was uncooperative, argumentative, and demanding when they used different equipment that was requested.
