After getting booked on the load, the shipper was running into an issue getting the load ready and asked the driver if he could come back the next day to load, and the driver asked for $250, as I was out of town in San Antonio with my wife at her Doctors office. The driver ended up dropping his trailer that day and came back the following day to pick up the trailer for delivery on Monday, but before the driver would pick up the trailer to get it out of the shipper's facility the driver had to have the new rate con showing the $250 fees, and I tried explaining to him I was not near a computer as I was at my wife annual dr appointment in San Antonio, the laptop I had with me crashed and was at a computer store there in San Antonio getting repaired so at that moment I couldn't send him he update rate sheet but would have it to him by days end and as the load does not deliver until Monday in Houston so he had plenty of time to get the new rate sheet. But the driver refused to pick up the trailer causing me to have to leave the hospital, go find a store with a fax machine him a handwritten piece of paper reflecting the new rate. The driver basically holding us, hostage, as he refused to take the load and refused to allow the shipper back on his trailer to offload the load and would not free up the shipper's dock so they could load other trucks.
The driver needs to have compassion for people when things are not going right. But when he has problems he expects people to understand and work with him.
