Transload Warehouses
161 facilities
Transload warehouses sit at the handoff between rail, ocean, and truck. They are built for freight that arrives in one mode and leaves in another: imported consumer goods, food and beverage, paper, building materials, auto parts, and agricultural product. The space works because it lets freight break bulk, sort loads, and keep moving without long storage. That makes it a fit for cargo that needs fast turns and flexible routing.
The strongest transload lanes cluster near the big gateways and inland rail hubs that feed national distribution: the ports on the West Coast and Gulf Coast, the I-35 and I-10 corridors, and freight centers around Chicago, Dallas, and Toronto. California, Texas, Ontario, and Quebec all draw this work for the same reason: containers and railcars arrive there first, then truck freight fans out to stores, plants, and regional warehouses. In transload markets, the load usually arrives dense and leaves in smaller, truck-ready shipments.
