Bonded Warehouses

Bonded space is customs-controlled storage for imported freight that has not yet cleared duty, or that will move back out of the country after a short stay. It is a fit for apparel, electronics, wine and spirits, auto parts, and other import-heavy cargo that may need inspection, relabeling, or staged release before final entry.

The strongest demand follows the country’s port, airport, and border corridors: Southern California, Texas, the New York–New Jersey port region, and Florida all funnel bonded freight into controlled warehouses. Inland hubs in Georgia, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania also play a role when cargo arrives by rail or truck after port discharge. In practice, bonded freight moves in sealed inbound flows, then leaves once customs holds are lifted and the next leg of the supply chain is ready.
